Because I've received a couple of emails about the message limit, I thought I'd explain where everyone could see it. The default number of messages allowed to be sent from any one account in one day is 20 emails. That was the number set for the highest level when I began working with this software so I left it at that as it seems reasonable.
One of the reasons for keeping it at that number is to discourage spammers from joining and sending out mass emails to other members. I've run into that problem before and since our service is free, spammers will be tempted to join and abuse our resources. It's not fair to us to use our free site for their business and it's an annoyance to the members they spam. This type of site is tempting to spammers and it's a problem that has plagued sites like this before. If you receive spam from within the site, please, let me know immediately.
Also, you can only keep a total of 400 messages in your combined message folders. That means if you have 200 messages in your Sent folder and 200 messages in your Inbox, you have reached your limit. Clear your messages regularly so your folders don't get full. Keeping track of the number of messages is important because if your folders are full, you cannot receive new messages.
There is also a limit on the number of days you can keep messages, so flag the messages you want to keep and copy the really important ones and keep them on your own computer so you don't lose them. Flagged messages will stay in the system for 120 days and unflagged messages will be deleted after 60 days.
If you exceed the message limit, you will receive an error message that informs you that you have exceeded the number of messages allowed for your level of membership. That is a bit misleading since there is only one level of membership that allows you to send messages and if you're sending messages, you're already at that level. We only have two tiers of membership; free and visitor. Visitors don't get to send email at all, just members do.
Unluckily the language that came with the software was set up for paysites and while I know it sounds like it's prompting you to upgrade, there's not another level above the "Free" level. Our service is completely free and is going to stay that way, but I'm having to work with software that was set up for a paysite. I've changed some of the messages, but some of them are tricky to change so I doubt I'll be able to change them.
I hope you can work within the message limit. Another other option is to send a "Wink" to someone. Sending a "Wink" lets that member know you like their profile. If you're communicating with more than a few individuals, you might consider asking them to join you in the chat room or on the forum.
If you are regularly reaching your messages limits because you are attempting to send out mass messages to potential matches, keep in mind that may not be the most successful strategy and may be potentially confusing. Find some profiles that really might be potential matches and send them an introductory email. Be sure to read the profiles carefully and don't make assumptions about anyone here. For example, don't assume every woman who has signed up for membership is a bottom or every man is a top. I've heard this complaint from members so please be considerate and take the time to read their preferences.
If you've already found someone you enjoy corresponding with and are hitting your limit, that's another thing. Maybe you should move to the chat room at that point. You can create a private room for yourselves there if you wish. If you are comfortable with that person and think you are ready for to share personal information, you could move on to personal email exchanges off the site. We don't prohibit that like most paysites do since forcing you to use our service to keep in contact isn't one of our goals.
Our service is free but that means resources are somewhat limited and that's why there is a limit on message storage in the first place. I hope you all understand and can work within our limits.
Good luck and let me know if you have any questions or coments.
